Last week, the Surgeon General released a new advisory outlining the direct link between alcohol consumption and increased cancer risk. Alcohol increases your risk of not just breast cancer, but at least 6 other types of cancer: mouth, throat, voice box, esophagus, liver, colon/rectum.

Dr. Vivek Murthy is proposing a warning label on alcohol like the warning label on cigarettes. 🚬

If you have a family history of breast cancer and you're consuming a glass (or 3) of wine each night, you are playing Russian roulette with your boobs.

Classified as a Group 1 human carcinogen, alcohol harms every organ as it passes through the body and impacts fertility, PCOS, and endometriosis. And it's a greater threat to my menopausal posse - hormonal changes reduce our ability to metabolize alcohol increasing the risks to our brain and liver.

"Attempting To Run" update.

One evening last week I decided to test my ability and slog around the neighborhood. Towards the end of my short route, Born to Run came on. Totally inspired, out of breath, but feeling cocky, I thought "I can make another loop". And off I went.

Gasping out loud to the "Woooo-oooooooh" part, raising my fist but not my feet, I hit the ground. Headlamps (both of them) literally flew off my head and slid up the road in dramatic fashion. Dang. I limped the rest of the way home.

Bruised but not defeated!!
I'll try again....
